Mdm Sharon Moore
Australia
Speech Pathologist
Australia
I am a Speech Pathologist with 4 decades of clinical experience across a wide range of communication and upper airway disorders. I have worked in diverse clinical settings in Australia and London. Currently, I operate a Private Practice in Canberra, servicing referrals from medical and dental specialists, for patients of all ages. The integration of upper airway and orofacial myofunctional science into traditional speech pathology work allows a unique approach to managing disorders of function of the upper airway, including breathing, swallowing, chewing, phonation, resonance, speech and airway patency for breathing during sleep. I have a special interest in early identification of craniofacial growth anomalies in non-syndromic children, airway obstruction in sleep disorders and concomitant orofacial and oropharyngeal dysfunctions. Recently, acknowledgement of the role of myofunctional therapy in the management of sleep disordered breathing, hails a new era of relevance for work in the upper airway, and affirmation of my chosen clinical direction. I believe there has never been a more important time for medical and dental colleagues to work as a team with significant health morbidities of sleep disorders in all ages now widely known. Professional membership of: Australasian Sleep Association, Sleep Health Foundation, International Pediatric Sleep Association, World Sleep Society, The Laryngology Society of Australasia, Speech Pathology Australia, American Academy of Physiological Medicine and Dentistry, American Academy of Cranio-Facial Pain, The Australian Voice Association, Academy of Applied Myofunctional Science, International Functional Association.
